This family tree site starts with the surnames of my grandparents

The Evans family were all from Devon, and Plymouth in particular.
Related families include Stacey (Plymouth), Bird (Sheldon, Devon), Hutchinson (Hastings, Sussex) and Toms (Bigbury, Devon.)

Prior to my Grandmother's parents moving to Eastbourne in Sussex, the Davis family came from around Burnley in Lancashire.
Families include Heap (Newchurch, Lancashire) and Jackson (Newchurch, Lancashire.). Also, another branch of the Davis family came from Stolberg in Germany.
Many thanks to Mike Davis for sending me his excellent research on the Davis family.

The Edwards were a mining family from Snailbeach & Minsterley in Shropshire.
I've not been able to trace their history back very far, but other families include Rowson & Davies, also from Snailbeach and the Minsterley area of Shropshire.

Around 1800 the Cox family were from East and West Hanney in Berkshire where they were Blacksmiths.
My branch then moved to Newington, South London and then onto Oxted in Surrey, where they were still smiths and also ran the Post Office and general store. Another branch also became smiths in Croydon, Surrey.
Related families are Brasier (Oxted, Surrey), Cooper (Romsey, Hampshire), Merrie (Romsey, Hampshire), Leader and Burkett (London), Spanswick from Hungerford, Berkshire (now Wilts) and Dance from Vernham, Hampshire.
Many thanks to Jill Wohlgemuth for her invaluable help with the Cox family background.
